A WOMAN has been taken to hospital after a head on collision with a lamp post in Brantham this evening.
Ambulance crews believe the lady suffered a stroke at the wheel of her black Renault Scenic causing her to crash into the post.
The incident happened on the B1080 at the junction with the A137 at about 5.15pm.
The female, believed to be from the Bentley area, said she thought she had suffered a seizure moments before the collision.
Police received a call from ambulance crews to attend at the scene and firefighters were also in attendance.
Fire crews were needed to help free the woman from her vehicle, cutting the roof off to release her.
Paramedics took her to Ipswich Hospital for further treatment.
The road has now reopened and traffic is flowing freely.
