The controversial Woods Lane closure will hopefully come to an end tomorrow according to developers.

Bloor Homes, who are building the nearby development at Longwood Fields, released a statement today, expressing their hope that the road would be open late tomorrow morning.

In the statement the company said:“Bloor Homes can announce that Woods Lane, Melton will reopen on Wednesday 14th March, a month earlier than the original scheduled reopening date.

“Phase 2 of the necessary closure of Woods Lane in Melton was initially due to end on 13th April 2018.

“Following the public consultation last year, Bloor Homes’ commitment to extended working hours and construction techniques sees the reopening of the road a week ahead of the revised estimated date that was announced in February. It is a full month ahead of the original schedule.

“The road closure was part of the building process for Bloor Homes’ Longwood Fields development to connect various utilities, including the installation of a sewer within the carriageway itself.

“Bloor Homes is aware of the disruption that has been caused to residents and businesses during the necessary closure of Woods Lands and would like to apologise for the inconvenience caused.”

It was reported on Friday that council chiefs had been hoping to re-open the road at some point this week.
