A former Suffolk student ‘hit the wall’ for one the world’s most challenging marathons.
At 19, Ben Greenhouse was thought to be the youngest runner in the 2014 Great Wall Marathon, which not only covers 26 miles, but includes 5,164 steep stone steps.
For the last six months, the ex-Farlingaye High pupil has been learning martial arts at the Qufu Shaolin Kung fu school, in China.
The Woodbridge teenager came 163rd of 436 male runners who completed the course, finishing in five hours 37 minutes. He has raised more than £1,300 for Epilepsy Action, which supports sufferers like his sister.
It is currently National Epilepsy Week and you can sponsor Ben at justgiving.com/Ben-Greenhouse.
