A series of Suffolk street and store collections in the lead up to Christmas has raised nearly £1,300 for community causes.

The Lions Club of Woodbridge and District has thanked all those who donated to its collections which raised £1,296.

The club’s Peter See said: “Our grateful thanks to everyone who contributed so generously to our street and store collections in the run up to Christmas and special thanks to Tesco Martlesham Heath and Suffolk Coastal District Council for their kind permission to hold collections.

“As with all funds raised from the public, these proceeds will be returned to the community in a number of ways, chiefly through the Christmas Parcels project and “Quay Time”, our promising joint venture with Woodbridge Quay Church.

Proceeds were held at Tesco in Martlesham Heath on December 11 and 14, the Turban Centre in Woodbridge on December 16, and at “Sleigh Ride” events in Warwick Avenue, Bury Hill and Peterhouse, all in Woodbridge.
