A pair of fundraising cyclists were delighted to receive a charitable boost ahead of their formidable 420km desert ride in November.

Cameron Wheeler and Scott Girling, who are preparing to take on the ‘Death Valley Cycle Challenge’ in Nevada this November, picked up a cheque for £582.74 from the Rotary Club of Woodbridge to go towards their £15,000 target for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

The pair, who will be joined on the ride by friend Tom Caraccio-Hewitt, appeared with the rotary club at Woodbridge Regatta, where raffle tickets were sold for the cause.

Mr Wheeler’s brother Alistair died last year after being diagnosed with terminal cancer at 23. He was supported by the charity and treated at Addenbrooke’s Hospital.

Mr Wheeler said: “The rotary club’s support has been brilliant.”
