A Suffolk woman has realised her dream – by singing at the Royal Albert Hall.
Lucy Harris, 24, from Woodbridge, was chosen to be the lead soprano soloist as part of John Lewis’ 150th anniversary at a concert sold out to more than 5,000 people.
The department store celebrated 150 years with a commissioned piece by composer Bob Chilcott, after the composer spent a day at the company’s Oxford Street store.
The soprano, who was a student at Farlingaye High School, and later studied Performance and Musicology at City University, and now studies MA Publishing at University College London, said: “To be part of such a momentous occasion is overwhelmingly exciting.
“It’s all I’ve dreamt and thought about since I was a little girl and I can’t believe it’s happening.
“It’s a dream come true for me.
“When I was in my early teens in a corner of Woodbridge, I had always fantasised about singing on the most famous stage in the UK, and now that I am, I can’t quite believe that my fantasy is a reality. Not many people can say they’ve reached a life time goal at the age of 24.”
