Worker burned in chemical leak

A HEALTH and safety investigation is underway after a 27-year-old man suffered facial burns following an ammonia leak at a major Suffolk firm.A chemical spillage unit from Haverhill joined fire crews from Bury St Edmunds and Newmarket after an ammonia leak at Direct Table Foods, which is based in Saxham Business Park near Bury St Edmunds.

A chemical spillage unit from Haverhill joined fire crews from Bury St Edmunds and Newmarket after an ammonia leak at Direct Table Foods, which is based in Saxham Business Park near Bury St Edmunds.

The incident happened shortly before 1pm on Thursday

One man suffered facial burns and breathing problems caused by the ammonia and was taken to West Suffolk Hospital by the East Anglian Ambulance Service.
