A chemical spillage unit from Haverhill joined fire crews from Bury St Edmunds and Newmarket after an ammonia leak at Direct Table Foods, which is based in Saxham Business Park near Bury St Edmunds.
The incident happened shortly before 1pm on Thursday
One man suffered facial burns and breathing problems caused by the ammonia and was taken to West Suffolk Hospital by the East Anglian Ambulance Service.
An investigation by the Health and Safety Executive is underway.
