THE build-up to this summer’s World Cup will be kicked off in Sudbury next month when 1966 legend Martin Peters makes a guest appearance at AFC Sudbury.
The former West Ham, Spurs and England player will preside over a schools penalty competition at the Suffolk club’s final home game of the season against Woodford United on Saturday, April 24.
Children from Sudbury, Clare, Nayland and Great Cornard will try and emulate Peters, who hit the back of the net for his country in the World Cup final in 1966. A giant England flag will also be unveiled.
