They have been steadily arriving into the offices of Our Bury St Edmunds, in Woolhall Street, with up to 80 now received.

This year is the centenary of the ending of the 1914 to 1918 conflict and the trail has been created to commemorate this and features 18 pieces of art created by local artists which will be on display across the town until Armistic Day, November 11.

Our Bury St Edmunds, the business improvement district for the town, is working in partnership with the My WiSH Charity, which supports the West Suffolk Hospital, and all money raised from the trail will be contributing towards the Every Heart Matters campaign which is aimed at raising £500,000 to create a new cardiac diagnostic unit at the hospital.

At the end of the trail all the pieces of art will be auctioned for the campaign and along with sponsorship for them, which has come from a host of businesses in and around the town include main sponsor Treatt, along with A J Joinery, Ashtons Legal, Arc Shopping Centre, Beautiful Beers, Chassis Cab Truck Centre, Coastline, Denny Bros, D J Evans Group, Greene King, Mike and Judy Spencer Morris, Levertech Engineering Services, LP Bar, Meredith Greengrass Funeral Service, St Edmundsbury Financial Services Ltd, Upbeat, Culford School, Jacobs Allen and Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing, it has already created funds for the appeal.

East Anglian Daily Times:

Brochures have been printed giving details of the trail which features an entry form for people to find the 18 items.

Mark Cordell, the chief executive of Our Bury St Edmunds, said: “They have to find all the 18 pieces and against each piece is a letter and they then have to rearrage the letters to spell a well known phrase and everyone which is correct will be put into a draw from which a number of winners will be drawn out.

“There will be 10 winners with a top prizes of £100 and other prizes and they will all be town centre vouchers.

“The trail is getting some traction and more people are seeing it and talking about it a lot and we have already received up to 80 entries so with just over three months to go we hopefull of getting many more.”

The brochures can be picked up at the town’s Tourist Information Centre at The Apex.
