Wyverstone Parish Council chairman James Arnold pleaded guilty to assault by beating when he appeared before Bury St Edmunds magistrates today.
The 49-year-old, of Potash Road, Wyverstone, near Stowmarket, was charged with two counts of assault. One of the allegations related to November 11 last year. The other was said to have taken place on March 27.
Arnold admitted one of the assaults and pleaded not guilty to the other which will now go to trial.
Arnold is also due to appear before Ipswich Crown Court on Thursday charged with four counts of possession of a prohibited weapon and two alleged assaults.
These charges relate to an Uzi machine gun, AK47 assault rifle, a bolt-action shotgun and a self-loading rifled gun.
