A YOUNG man remains in a serious condition today after being involved in a car crash in Somersham.Police say the 25-year-old driver of the Peugeot 306 is still in Ipswich Hospital with severe injuries following the accident outside Walnut Tree Cottage in Main Road at about 6.20pm.

Police say the 25-year-old driver of the Peugeot 306 is still in Ipswich Hospital with severe injuries following the accident outside Walnut Tree Cottage in Main Road at about 6.30pm last night.

Firefighters from Needham Market, Colchester Road and Princes Street were called to the scene to free two trapped motorists involved in the crash with one cyclist. The cyclist is believed to have sustained cuts and bruises.

The driver of the Peugeot is in a serious but stable condition, having sustained multiple fractures to his right arm and right leg and minor chest injuries.

Officers are appealing for witnesses to the incident to call Pc 1462 Steve Griggs at Suffolk Police's roads policing unit on 01473 613500.
