A west Suffolk student has earned himself a place at a prestigious music academy, which is helping him to hone his skills as a violinist.
Joseph Bailey, 16, an AS student at King Edward VI School in Bury St Edmunds, successfully auditioned for the Britten Sinfonia Academy, which will culminate in him performing with the orchestra at the Barbican in London alongside violinist Nicola Benedetti.
Joseph, from just outside Bury, has been playing the violin since the age of seven, and also plays piano.
Geoff Barton, headteacher of the school, said: “We are hugely proud of what Joseph has achieved, and look forward to discovering what lies ahead for this hard-working AS music student, who is as modest as he is talented.”
Joseph also plays with the school’s Chamber and Symphony Orchestras.
