With the weather not great outdoors, around 50 children enjoyed staying in for a fun-filled castle-themed holiday club.
The week-long event was held by the Seaton Road Methodist Church in Felixstowe and saw its hall transformed into the Watt-a-Lott Castle for crafts, stories, songs, games, refreshments, drama and puppet sketches.
The crafts included making royal goblets, decorating pencil cases, making a castle cup-and-ball game and decorating shield-shaped biscuits.
The children were divided into teams – Jolly Jesters, “Knifty” Knights, Merry Minstrels, Perfect Peasants, Regal Royals and Accurate Archers – bringing an element of competition to the activities and games, including Castle Ruins, avoiding the ‘cannon balls’ and a jousting race with a Tournament on the final day, where the youngsters pitted their skills against one-another in various activities such as splat-the-rat, catch the ducks, and hoopla.
The week concluded with a special Holiday Club Extra service for the children and their families, held in the church on the Sunday.
Robin and Mary Pattinson, two of the week’s leaders, said: “It was great seeing the children enjoying themselves so much and they were all fantastic.
“Both the children and leaders seemed to have a really good time and there was lots of fun and laughter. We are looking forward to next year already!”
Children activities are held at the church and in the Felixstowe Methodist Mission Area throughout the year. For more details contact info@seatonroad.org.uk
