FORMER Ipswich Town chairman David Sheepshanks has taken over at the helm of the Football Association following the dramatic resignation of Lord Triesman.
The decision comes after a report in today’s Mail on Sunday which alleged that FA chairman Triesman made comments suggesting Spain were planning to bribe referees at this summer’s World Cup while also offering their support to Russia’s bid for the 2018 World Cup if they were to help.
FA board members Sheepshanks and Roger Burden have been drafted in as acting joint chairmen of the FA.
