NE14 East Women's League
Division One North
Ipswich II 0 Colchester 0
COLCHESTER were unlucky not take all three points in a disappointing encounter with local rivals Ipswich.
Both teams started brightly, moving the ball around well, but not creating any clear cut opportunities in front of goal. As the half went on Colchester pressurised the Ipswich 'D' and were rewarded with several penalty corners, but the Ipswich defence were fast out, blocking the strike. At the other end Ipswich had penalty corners of their own dealt with by the visitor's defence without too much difficulty.
The second half saw more chances for Colchester, but a lack of sharp finishing was proving to be decisive. Helen Barnes and Karen Harris both went close but, unlike in previous weeks, deflections were missed and opportunities lost. As the half wore on neither side looked like they would break the deadlock and so it remained 0-0, but with other results going their way Colchester remain top of the league.
