SOUTHERN LEAGUE MIDLANDS DIVISION ONE

AFC Sudbury 4 Barton Rovers 2

PLAYING their first home game for five weeks AFC Sudbury twice had to come from behind before securing the points to move into second place.

Within two minutes Barton silenced the home crowd when Sozzo, having twice had shots blocked, was third time lucky with a well-struck low shot past Catley.

The lead was shortlived as a short pass from Haynes-Brown saw Hammond unleash a swerving 25-yard shot past a helpless Patching in the Barton goal.

Hawes, Joyce and Wright all went close before Sozzo took full advantage of a rebound off a defender to cross low for O'Brien to restore the Barton lead.

Again this did not last long as two minutes later Speed sent Bussens away with Hawes superbly sweeping his first time cross past Patching.

After Hawes had sent a first-time shot inches over, Barton almost went ahead again. From Robbs corner O'Brien's shot was scrambled off the line by Driver, Catley dropping on the loose ball.

AFC finally went ahead after 75 minutes, Hawes bustling past two defenders before chipping the ball over the defence for Bussens to run on and beat Patching with a low shot.

Rowe glanced a header inches over from another inch-perfect Hawes pass. Three minutes from time Haynes-Brown's long throw was flicked over Patching by Hawes for Bussens to bundle the ball home at the far post.
