MEET Suffolk's No.1 golfing prodigy - aged just 12.

Lewis Last has recorded not one, but two, hole-in-ones in just six weeks.

A 12 handicapper, the Westbourne Sports College, Ipswich pupil's first ace came on the nine-hole course at Fynn Valley Golf Club, holing a gap wedge from the tee on the 75-yard sixth hole.

Just weeks later the Suffolk Under-14 Elite squad member surpassed that achievement by recording yet another hole-in-one, this time on the full 18 hole course. Playing in the Elwood Electrical Gents v Juniors Competition, Lewis astounded his playing partner and opponents by holing his seven wood shot from the 151-yard eighth hole.

He said: “I was quite shocked, I had to hole that shot to win the hole and ended up winning the match one-up so it proved quite important. I just like working hard on something really and golf is something that I seemed to have a natural ability for.”

His tutor, Simon Dainty, said he has come on leaps and bounds since becoming a member four years ago.

“Lewis started the season with a 24 handicap and surpassed our expectations by dropping to a 12. We have said now that he would like to get down to single figures this season, because if he does the he could trial for the Suffolk under-16 squad.” Mr Dainty said.

Lewis's father John, added: “He is up at the driving range four week nights and then plays on both Saturday and Sunday. The club are very good with their juniors. In the summer I will drop him off at nine in the morning and won't pick him up again until six or seven in the afternoon.”

Lewis is not the only youngster to have produced a hole-in-one at Fynn Valley recently though.

James Tiller, 13, recorded what must be the fastest ever ace for a new member when he holed from the tee just a day after joining the club. Having registered on the Monday, Tiller then aced his first shot on the nine-hole course the following afternoon, his eight iron shot finding the hole from 125 yards.
