KARL Duguid did not even travel with the Colchester United squad to Bristol City, increasing speculation that the U's skipper could be on his way out of Layer Road.
Duguid, who is the U's longest-serving player, has been linked with moves to Charlton and Hull since the transfer window reopened this month.
Manager Geraint Williams said: “Karl (Duguid) has been out-of-sorts lately, so I decided to give him a break.
“It wasn't worth a senior player like Karl travelling here for the weekend, if he wasn't going to be playing, so he's had a rest. He'll be back in for training next week. I don't deal in speculation, until everything is in black and white, and not even then!”
