AN Essex pub is expected to close within the next few days after an early hours disturbance there led to an arrest.
Police were sent to the King William pub in Church Street, Bocking, near Braintree, at around three forty in the morning last Tuesday where they detained a 35-year-old man on suspicion of assault and possession of a controlled substance.
A woman was taken to hospital after making an allegation of assault and police also seized a small amount of drugs.
An investigation of alleged breaches of licensing laws was carried out and subsequently the tenants served their notice to quit.
Police licensing officer Stephen Sparrow said: “Essex Police continues to work with the licensing trade to ensure licensing laws are adhered to, and expects licensees to maintain good order and keep within their permitted licensing hours.
“We are very pleased that Admiral Taverns have co-operated very fully with our investigation into the incidents of last Tuesday and indeed have, of their own volition, taken positive action.”
A 35-year-old man has been bailed in connection with the disturbance until October 16.
