Suffolk Division One

Lowestoft III 3 Felixstowe II 2

The visitors arrived at the game with only eight players and knew they would have a somewhat difficult and defensive game.

However, Suzy and Jenny immediately took the game up the pitch and with clever stick work and determination they tested the Lowestoft defence.

The home side however, took every opportunity to break out and frequently swept thru the centre of the pitch to challenge Felixstowe's defence.

Lizzie, Millie, Eli and Nan showed focus and strength to keep the attackers frustrated. Their first goal was scored after their only short corner off the match.

Fiona in midfield continued to hassle and tackle with strength and was a valued stand in for this game.

A second goal was conceded by the southern Seasiders but still they continued to attack.

Just before half time their pressure and fitness paid off and Felixstowe's Millie scored a goal from a short corner set piece making the game 2-1 at half time.

The second half began in the same vein with the visitors attacking at every opportunity, again the pressure paying off with a goal by Suzy.

With the game now at 2-2 both sides were determined to take the three points.

With 15 minutes to go Felixstowe's Suzy was hit across the nose and was sadly sidelined for the rest of the game.

Lowestoft were asked by their umpire if they would end the match at 2-2 but they declined.

Now with only seven players Felixstowe's Jenny continued to push up the pitch and attack Lowestoft's defence but without success.

In defence Clare, the visitors goalie, made several good saves but finally, with six minutes to go, Lowestoft got the wining goal.
