Ipswich East Suffolk 6 Felixstowe 2
Ipswich East Suffolk hosted bitter local rivals Felixstowe at the Copleston Centre on Saturday.
Looking to following up their pre-season thrashing of the coastal side, IES had their customary first five minute wobble before taking hold of the game with a clinical burst of finishing.
Captain Alex Borwick opened the scoring with a penalty corner strike following a slip, before the skilful Scott Cole passed several players before unleashing a strike for 2-0 from open play.
David Taylor made it three with a trademark power strike, while his strike partner made good ground to deflect a Stu Gooderham penalty corner strike into the roof of the net.
At half time, IES were cruising at 4-0 with Felixstowe notably shaken.
IES soon scored a fifth in the second half, with Taylor scoring his second by deftly deflecting a pass from Brown.
Concentration from the hosts then slipped somewhat and Lane gave away a penalty corner which the home side dispatched for their opening goal.
IES battled back and Brown fired home from a penalty corner to make it six.
Felixstowe gained another consolation goal from another penalty corner, but IES still completed their third victory of the season to move to a mid table position.
Man-of-the-match Brown defended with aplomb and was ably supported by fellow centre back Blake, who pushed forward from the rear at every occasion, as well as full-backs Pettit and Peck.
IES travel to bottom team March Town on Saturday in search of another emphatic win.
IES, sponsored by Hill Piling, team: Lane, Peck, Pettit, Brown, Blake, Borwick, Jones, Mayhew, Cole, Tingey, Taylor, Gooderham.
