THE Great Britain men's Under-20s basketball team and 2012 Olympics development squad will be arriving in Colchester later this week to prepare for the Under-20s European Championships in Poland in July.
The team, who are Britain's great hope for basketball success at the London Olympics in five years' time, will be spending a series of weekends at a training camp co-ordinated by their manager Mark Lloyd, who lectures in sport at Colchester Institute.
Lloyd is looking forward to welcoming the players to Colchester and hopes that the camp marks the start of the town being the training base for the 2012 Olympic basketball team.
He said: “The squad, many of whom will be selected for the 2012 Olympic team, are coming to Colchester to participate in the training programme we have developed to prepare them for the European Championships in Poland.”
The training camp will take place from Thursday to Saturday on three consecutive weekends.
