CELEBRATIONS for Ipswich Town's first league win over Colchester United in more than 50 years were tempered by a defensive headache for manager Jim Magilton.
The Blues go into Saturday's FA Cup fourth-round clash against Swansea City with two defenders suspended and their skipper injured.
David Wright was sent off on his home debut, for deliberate handball in time added on in the 3-2 win over the U's and even though Town have lodged an appeal, Magilton is not very hopeful.
He said: “It was a very harsh decision in the dying embers of the game and perhaps the referee with all his experience could have used common-sense. I hope he looks at it and rescinds it but I doubt it.
“There is probably more chance of Nelson getting his eye back!”
Alex Bruce starts a two-match ban this weekend after reaching 10 bookings and Jason De Vos is ruled out with a broken foot. Ian Miller, recalled last week from his loan spell at Boston United, is cup-tied so Fabian Wilnis, Chris Casement and Sito will vie for the two places alongside Richard Naylor and Dan Harding at the back.
U's boss Geraint Williams intends to use the blank weekend after being knocked out of the cup by Barnet, to recharge his players' batteries and Colchester are enjoying a sunshine break in Spain until Wednesday.
