A YOUNG sports star will miss his own graduation ceremony after he was snapped up by Ipswich Town just weeks after completing his degree.
Ian Miller was signed up by the Blues three weeks after he finished his degree in sports science, which he started at West Suffolk College in Bury St Edmunds.
The 22-year-old from the town, who last week joined Boston United on a month-long loan, will now not be available to attend his graduation later this month as he is too busy with his new football career.
After completing his BSc Sports, Health and Exercise degree at the Anglia Ruskin University in Chelmsford, the former Bury Town player was signed by manager Jim Magilton as a defender.
He said: “My mum is not overly happy with the fact that she will miss my moment of glory but I think on balance she is happy with the way things are working out for me.”
“If I couldn't play football I don't know what I would do - it is my passion. I couldn't work in an office.”
He is hoping to follow in the footsteps of Bury's other star pupil, Simon Milton, who became an Ipswich Town favourite.
Signed in September 2006, Ian's contract at Portman Road runs until next June.
