FIVE first-team regulars will be looking to use the final home reserve game of the season tonight to try to force their way into Saturday's squad travelling to Gillingham, writes Derek Davis.

Premiership outfit Fulham provide the opposition for the likes of Richard Naylor, Georges Santos, Drissa Diallo, Martijn Reuser and Alun Armstrong tonight.

Reserve-team boss Steve McCall insists it is not too late for any of them to win back a starting place.

He said: "This is an important game for them to show their sharpness. This is an important run-in and we will need all the players we have for that final push for the play-offs and then the post-season games if we make it.

"While we are always looking for results the important thing is performances, from each player and as a team."

Ipswich Reserves can leapfrog Fulham into third-from-bottom with a win tonight and still have two games in hand on the Londoners, who they thrashed 6-1 back in November.

Reuser made a tremendous impact when he went on as a second-half replacement at Rotherham and while he does not like the super-sub tag he has shown more than once his importance late on in games.

Naylor has recovered from a broken toe and can be used up front or at the back as cover for Matt Elliott or John McGreal, who appear to be forging a good partnership.

Santos and Diallo have also played a big part in helping Town into the play-off places.

Armstrong is struggling to displace the front-runners Shefki Kuqi, Darren Bent and Dean Bowditch, and knows his future lies away from Portman Road, but could still be of use before this campaign is over.

All the players know there will be a number of scouts in the Directors' Box again tonight.

Town fans will also be keen to see the progress of the up-and-coming stars, such as Scott Barron and Scott Mitchell.

Chris Bart-Williams could also figure, depending on how his injured back is this morning, while Pablo Counago misses out after a picking up a slight groin strain in training, although he has made good progress from a hamstring pull.

The game kicks of at 7pm with free entrance for season ticket holders, £5 for adults and £2 for concessions.
