FABIAN Wilnis and Matt Richards have joined the injury list ahead of tonight's crucial Division One clash at Wolves.

Dutch defender Wilnis, who is enjoying a terrific season, pulled up in training yesterday with a 'tight' hamstring and is among several players who physio Dave Williams will check on today.

Fellow wing-back Matt Richards is also a doubt after turning his ankle in the same practice session, although both players travelled up to the West Midlands last night.

Darren Ambrose was in the swimming pool yesterday as he looks to recover from a brutal tackle by Craig Fleming on Sunday and is 'touch and go'.

Blues boss Joe Royle is hopeful all three will be fit to play although he admits it is bare bones time.

"We are stretched with the number of players either injured or suspended and God forbid that all three can't make it.

"I'm fairly confident on Fabian coming through while the other two are bigger doubts."

A squad of 17 was named last night but England Under-19 midfielder Matt Bloomfield, who has been playing as a right-back for the reserves, has been put on stand-by to rush to Molineux if needed.

Marcus Bent and John McGreal have both been ruled out. Bent is still suffering with a hamstring strain while McGreal has a pulled muscle in his back, which went into spasm.

Royle watched Wolves beat Crystal Palace 4-0 on Saturday but it is the 4-2 home defeat by Wolves which still rankles with the Town manager, especially as his side led twice.

He said: "The team is up for it. They know the challenge and we are on something of a mission at Wolves because we feel slightly aggrieved at the result at our place.

"Wolves are going well and are scoring goals without ever really being at their best. I saw them beat Palace convincingly without being convincing. It is a big game for us."

A scan on George Ndah has revealed a hamstring tear and he will not play; his place is likely to be taken by Dean Sturridge, although Adam Proudlock and Nathan Blake are in contention.

Lee Naylor has a jarred knee, Paul Ince a gash below a knee, while Shaun Newton and Colin Cameron both have foot injuries.

Scot Kenny Miller is the Wolves hit-man with 12 goals in nine games, but Royle believes stopping the supply could be the answer.

He said: "Mark Kennedy continues to supply the goals and I know well that on his day there is no better crosser in the game so we need Fabian fit as he is at the peak of his form."

While Miller is in a rich vein of form it must not be forgotten that Darren Bent has hit 10 goals in nine games.

Victory tonight will pull Town to within four points of Wolves with a game in hand and Stoke City to play at home on Saturday.

Royle said: "If we play as we did on Sunday and find that level of performance for 90 minutes then there is no one better in this division.

"I know how much the win over Norwich meant but we have to look ahead now. Beating Wolves gets us three points; we are catching up but we have to go for the win.

"The top two are pulling away but there are a lot of points that the ones immediately below can take off each other so we have to keep winning."
