Two Suffolk ski starlets are celebrating after being named in their respective Great Britain development squads.
Alex Lilywhite, 16 and Aaron Troung, 14, have honed their skills with the Ipswich-based Suffolk Vikings and will compete in the forthcoming English, British and Welsh Championships to put themselves in contention to represent their country at various competitions next year.
Under-16 Alex is a pupil at Woodbridge School, while Under-14 Aaron goes to Copleston High School.
As well as representing the Vikings, they also race for Austrian-based team Ambition during the winter months.
“I was really pleased when I discovered I had been picked for England.
“It will be hard work, but I am really looking forward to it,” said Aaron.
Alex added: “I was in the England squad for half a season last year and it was a really good experience in a competitive atmosphere.
“I would like to think I will be going for podiums next year as I will be in the top-half of my age group year and I want to aim high.”
Suffolk Vikings coach Foo Troung, added: “I am very proud of each and every single member of the team and to see the passion they have for the sport puts a smile on my face.
“Alex and Aaron have both been skiing since they were three years old and it came natural to both of them.
“They can go further if they keep on enjoying what they are doing.”
