Felixstowe & Walton venture south for a league tie this weekend with Tilbury FC who currently sit 18th in the Bostik North, writes Barry Grossmith.

It may help the Seasiders to know that The Dockers have lost both their league home games this season whilst losing just one of four on the road.

It is the case, however, that management and fans alike at The Goldstar Ground know that the tired old cliché, “there are no easy games in this league” also happens to be very true.

Just a glance at results in The Bostik North show how unpredictable things are.

Ian Watson, Seasiders joint coach said: “It’s been a very up and down month and we need to start stringing some results together to prove our credentials at this level.

“Every team is capable of taking points off each other and we need to establish ourselves over the next month and it is good to have a full squad back.

“We cannot afford to take any game lightly from top to bottom.”

The theme of unpredictability was underlined for Felixstowe losing 1-0 at home to AFC Sudbury last weekend, which was a disappointment following the 8-1 trouncing of Long Melford in the Suffolk Premier Cup just a few days earlier.

So this weekend’s trip to Essex provides the perfect opportunity to get back to winning ways in the league.

Seasiders joint coach Kevin O’Donnell knows it will be another tough test for his side.

“Regardless of Tilbury’s current position, I am sure Saturday will be another tough game for us.

“Last Saturday showed that one mistake or one missed shot is enough to change the outcome of the game.

“It will be important this week that we start the game strongly and take the fight to Tilbury.”

The Dockers themselves have been strengthened recently with the signing of Mitchell Gilby from Canvey Island.

Gilby netted 21 times last season for the Islanders and was also the players’ and supporters’ player of the year, as well as making the Bostik North Team of the Year.
