MIKE BACON takes a look at the Town players’ performances against Middlesbrough and gives his view.

DEAN GERKEN

Had little chance with either goal and came for a couple of crosses well, as well as making a good save as Boro pressed in that first 25 minutes...6

JANOI DONACIEN

Nervy first half, like most of the Town defence, but whippped in some fine crosses in the second. Sadly, there was no-one on the end of any of them...5

JONAS KNUDSEN

Defended pretty well but never got forward enough to create the type of problems he can down the left...5

LUKE CHAMBERS

A right Curate’s Egg of a performance from the skipper... good in parts. Poor pass led to second Boro goal, some poor passes in general but some superb defending too...5

TOTO NSIALA

By the time he got into his game Town were already two down and with Boro content to sit in the second period, had little to do in that second 45 minutes...5

TREVOH CHALOBAH

Town’s brightest player. At last Chalobah put together a full 90 minutes where he showed a good array of skills. Just needs a cutting pass, like Andre Dozzell can offer, to make his game...7

COLE SKUSE

Skuse will aways give you a solid performance. This Ipswich team with so many inexperienced Championship players badly needs Skuse’s experience...5

JON NOLAN

Playing just behind Kayden Jackson, Nolan never got going and ended up going back to look for the ball. Showed on Saturday he has an eye for goal, but didn’t threaten ....5

GRANT WARD

Up against very good full-backs, Ward never had a chance to have a real go at the Boro defence. Sometimes looks for flicks that can come off...but they didn’t against Boro....5

JORDAN GRAHAM

Really never got into the game in the 45 minutes he was on the pitch. Certainly isn’t afraid to demand the ball, but didn’t do enough to threaten.... 5

KAYDEN JACKSON

It’s a lonely job being a lone striker as many have found over the years in the game. Jackson never gives up and had some bright moments. But he badly needs someone alongside him...6

Subs

FREDDIE SEARS

Oh, how the crowd roared when Freddie came on and he didn’t disappoint. It wasn’t an all-running performance either. He collected the ball well and made himself two good chances....6

ANDRE DOZZELL

Oh, how the crowd roared even louder when Dozzell came on with 15 minutes to go. Immediately showed his class with some cutting passes through the Boro defence...6

GWION EDWARDS

Went straight out to the right and immediately set about taking on the Boro defence. He did ok, but this was a tough back line to crack, as many have found so far this season... 5
