Player and then manager George Burley was honoured with a testimonial match at Portman Road in 1983 for his service for the football club
In 1983, Town legend George Burley was honoured with a testimonial match at Portman Road as an Ipswich Town XI took on Scottish side Aberdeen - with Town winning the game 3-0.
Pictures were captured on the day as fans saluted the always reliable Scots man for his service to the club.
Burley joined Ipswich as an apprentice and progressed through the youth ranks, making his debut against Manchester United in 1973.
He went to make 500 appearances for Town, scoring 11 goals, and was an FA Cup and UEFA Cup winner for the Blues.
He went on to manage Ipswich between 1994 to 2002, where he led the club to promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs in the 1999-00 season, before the Blues finished 5th in their first season back in the top flight.
