Colchester United winger, Drey Wright, believes that the U’s are capable of winning their last four games of the season to give themselves an outside chance of scraping into the League Two play-offs.
The U’s top-seven hopes suffered a serious blow with Saturday’s 1-0 home defeat at the hands of table-toppers Accrington Stanley, striker Billy Kee netting his 22nd goal of the season on 63 minutes to seal a 15th win in 17 games for the visitors.
The U’s run of three straight wins was therefore ended, although John McGreal’s men remain just four points adrift of the play-offs, with four matches left.
“We just have to try and win all of our four remaining games,” insisted Wright.
“And there’s no reason why we can’t do that. Last year we were bottom of the league and then went on a winning run of nine or 10 games, so it can happen. Obviously after the Yeovil game (1-0 defeat), it was looking like a long shot, but now we have pushed ourselves into a position where it is a possibility.”
