Colchester United’s man-of-the-moment, Sammie Szmodics, is not going to let any of the big-money transfer speculation affect his game.

Livewire Szmodics, with 12 goals to his name already this season from just 23 first-team appearances, has attracted considerable interest from Championship and Premier League clubs.

Leading the way are AFC Bournemouth, who are believed to be ready to pay in the region of £1million to secure the services of the U’s attacking miffielder.

But Szmodics himself is just focusing on bolstering Colchester United’s promotion bid.

“I don’t take any notice of all this speculation,” insisted Szmodics, following this morning’s training session.

“I just want to keep playing well for Colchester, keep getting minutes under my belt and keep scoring goals. I’m a Colchester player trying to get the club promoted.

“The future will then write itself,” added Szmodics.
