Mildenhall Town boss Dean Greygoose says he’s ‘excited’ to be playing Maldon & Tiptree tomorrow night, after his side’s morale-boosting win at Canvey Island on Saturday.
The Recreation Way club secured their second win in their last three Bostik North games at Canvey, making it seven points out of nine.
They have moved up to 16th place in the table in their first season at this level.
“It was a terrific result at Canvey,” Greygoose said.
“And we deserved it.
“Canvey are a very good side but we looked strong, played to a controlled tempo, were patient.
“We defended well, it was just a good all-round performance.”
Mildenhall entertain Maldon & Tiptree tomorrow night at Recreation Way, the Essex side having seen players come – and go – in recent days.
Bostik North’s leading goalscorer, Junior Ogedi-Uzokwe departed the Jammers last week, along with midfielder, Ryan Gondoh – both signing for Colchester United. Central midfielder and club captain, Matt Lock retired with immediate effect.
But in, from Finnish-based side Atlantis, have come Clyde Ondo-Ikpo and Emmanuel Katundu. Also Eoin McKeown has joined on loan until the end of the season – again from Colchester United.
“It’s going to be an exciting game,” Greygoose said.
“I’ve got players back now. I’ve got my squad back now. The likes of Jake Chambers-Shaw being fit makes a big difference. Bringing on Danny Crow for the final 20 minutes at Canvey is a nice thing to be able to do.
“Kevin Horlock always produces good teams at Maldon. Yes they have a bit of a turnaround of players because of the way it is there, but they are always a good footballing side.
“I must admit I can’t wait.”
Mildenhall have coped well with life at Step 4, after their promotion from Step 5 last season. A good FA Trophy run is behind them and winning at places like Canvey Island and earlier in the season, Barking, shows they can compete with the best in this division.
“The team is under no pressure,” Greygoose said.
“The main thing was staying up this season. Gates are up and I think fans are enjoying seeing different clubs and travelling to different grounds.”
