The Blues head into the match following back-to-back 2-2 draws against Hull (away) and Sheffield Wednesday (home) and are currently three points adrift of the play-off places with a game in hand on most.
Left-back Jonas Knudsen is available again following suspension, but striker David McGoldrick is out after requiring surgery on a deep cut sustained to his groin in midweek.
Villa are finally beginning to live up to their pre-season promotion favourites tag. Steve Bruce’s men have won eight of their last 11 games, including a 2-1 home victory against Sunderland on Tuesday night, to rise up to fourth in the table.
