Pipers Vale competed at the British Compulsory 2 & 1 Championships, the gateway to the British Championships, in Stoke on Trent.
Pipers Vale were represented by Mya Patel and Ruby Keeley who had both overcome injury to be able to compete.
Ruby suffered a broken and dislocated elbow around a year ago, resulting in long rehabilitation, and despite a fall on beam, she passed her grade with flying colours.
Mya had suffered an ankle injury before the competition and despite suffering from nerves on the beam in the lead up to the event, performed really well.
Mya’s combined scores have her an impressive total of 60.150 and she passed her grade easily.
Gymnasts passing Compulsory Grade 1 achieve ‘elite gymnast’ status and are then eligible to compete at the British Championships. Pipers Vale’s Maisie Squire scored 61.70, becoming the first-ever member to pass Compulsory Grade 1.
Particular highlights were Maisie’s stunning beam routine and outstanding range routine where she was ranked third in the country. Maisie not only passed her grade but placed seventh in Great Britain which is an exceptional achievement at this high level and is testament to her sheer determination and unrivalled work ethic.
