Ipswich Town look set to complete a pre-season campaign without a home fixture for the first time since 2013.

The Blues have five away friendlies against confirmed and that, we understand, could be it regarding preparations for a 16th successive season in the Championship.

Mick McCarthy’s men return to training on June 26, then travel to Dublin for their usual week-long training camp at the impressive facilities of Carton House.

At the end of that week they will face Irish side Drogehda, then won’t be travelling far to take on Peterborough, Gillingham, Colchester and Charlton. Another match, possibly behind closed doors, could yet be arranged.

The Addicks game has been arranged for the weekend prior to start of the new Championship season, a slot usually reserved for a final warm-up game at Portman Road.

Last year the Blues hosted Royal Union Saint-Gilloise, losing 2-1 to the Belgian second-tier side.

Since relegation to the Championship, there have been home friendlies games against FC Utrecht, Celta Vigo, Levski Sofia, Osasuna, Atletico Madrid, Lazio, Panathinaikos, Real Valladolid, Tottenham, West Ham, West Brom and Wolves, as well as Fabian Wilnis’ Tesimonial against Colchester.
