Former King Edwards Grammar School pupil Chris Walker-Hebborn has been named in the Team GB squad for the 2016 Olympics, in Rio.
The former Team Ipswich swimmer, who lived in Bury St Edmunds as a youngster, was sweating on his place after failing to meet the qualifying time at last week’s British Championships in Glasgow,.
However, the 25-year-old’s fate was announced yesterday, the two-time gold medal winner at the Commonwealth Games in 2014 was named in a squad of 26 yesterday.
The team featuring backstroke swimmer Walker-Hebborn, also includes world and european champion Adam Peaty, as well as James Guy and Jazz Carlin.
