Manager Kevin Keen felt that his Colchester United side deserved to end their long wait for a league victory, in tonight’s 1-1 draw with fellow strugglers Fleetwood Town.
Goaclscorer Alex Gilbey, who broke the deadlock in the 38th minute, was denied a winner by a superb injury-time save from keeper Chris Maxwell.
“It really hurts when a keeper makes a save like that,” admitted Keen.
“Fleetwood scored a fantastic goal (Eggert Jonsson). The boy hit a real screamer, but we just got on with it.
“I’m pleased with the way we reacted. The heads did not go down and I thought we recovered well to the setback.
“We came on strongly at the end, but fortunately we’re still looking for that win in the league,” added Keen.
