Colchester United manager, Tony Humes, is hopeful of signing a new attacking player – on loan for the season – within the next 24 hours.

“We are expecting someone in on Monday,” revealed U’s boss Humes, following his side’s 1-0 home defeat to Fulham in their last pre-season friendly on Saturday.

“It’s like anything. It’s waiting until it finally comes off, because the deal is agreed in principal, and verbally.

“It’s just about getting the final OK from the club.

“Everybody had games over the last weekend of pre-season, so there’s always the possiblity of injuries ruling it out, or not.

“But we are expecting someone in on Monday, and it will be a season-long loan.

“Hopefully, that goes ahead,” added Humes.

The U’s entertain Blackpool on the opening day of the season, next Saturday.
