Polish top-flight club Korona Kielce have confirmed that defender Piotr Malarczyk is leaving the club to join Ipswich Town.
Korona’s official website says that their 24-year-old captain, who can play right-back or centre-back and stands at 6ft 3in tall, is leaving his hometown club and that “his career will continue in England with Ipswich Town”.
Town have reportedly triggered a buy-out clause in a contract Malarczyk signed in June which meant he could move on if a foreign club made an offer of 50,000 Polish Zloty (just over £8,500).
Official confirmation of the move is yet to be announced by Ipswich, with the transfer window closing at 6pm next Tuesday.
The move appears to confirm that Town have moved on from original target Jordan McGhee, Hearts having turned down several bids for the Scottish Under-21 international.
