Leading figures from the world of women’s cycling will be attending a celebration on the Suffolk coast to mark the upcoming arrival of the sport’s most prestigious UK event.

Cycling fans are invited to meet members of the Matrix Fitness Women’s Team who are attending a special “evening with” event at Thorpeness Country Club on Wednesday, May 20, to celebrate the arrival of the Women’s Tour. The opening stage of the tour starts in Bury St Edmunds and finishes in Aldeburgh on June 17.

Helen Wyman, two-time European cyclo-cross champion, who will be taking part in the Tour, will be attending the event along with Stefan Wyman, the team’s manager, and Lucy Martin, who represented Great Britain in cycling events at the 2012 Olympic Games.

The three star guests will be telling their inspiring stories and answering questions.

Sarah Shinnie, active communities cfficer at Suffolk Coastal District Council, said: “This event is a great opportunity for people to meet some of the stars who help to make the Women’s Tour such a special race and I hope that it will be an enjoyable evening for everyone involved.”

There will also be an auction, with prizes including hotel stays, hospitality tickets to the race finish on June 17, and a tour of the National Cycling Tour in Manchester, among others.

Grahame Tinnion, managing director at TA Hotel Collection Ltd, said: “With strong community partnerships in Suffolk, TA Hotel Collection is passionate and proud of the wonderful part of the world in which we live and work.

“We always seek to play an active part in our community and are delighted to support and provide the venue for An Evening with the Matrix Fitness Women’s Cycling Team.”
