Colchester United boss, Joe Dunne, admitted that Doncaster Rovers’ 65th minute opening goal, netted by Kyle Bennett, effectively killed off the game, following this afternoon’s 1-0 home defeat.
Dunne explained: “It was a very tight game, and the manner of the way we conceded the goal was disappointing.
“I felt that the ball was kicked out of Sam Walker’s hands, and that we should have got a free-kick, but I also thought that a couple of my players turned their backs on it.
“In the end, the break went Doncaster’s way.
“It is another game that has gone against us, such has been the start to our season.
“Chances were at a premium today, for both teams. Overall, it was a very close, tight affair, with plenty of midfielders on the pitch.
“We found it very difficult to get back into the game, after we conceded. That goal certainly knocked us back a bit.
“In fact, I thought the goal effectively killed it for us.
“But I still believe in the players, and the team. It’s only four games gone. There are more than 40 games still to go,” added Dunne.
