The time for talking is over.

That’s the message from Colchester United winger Sanchez Watt, ahead of tonight’s vital home game against Shresbury Town.

Watt suffered the anguish of hitting the bar with a header during Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at Crawley, but is out to put the record straight this evening.

The U’s poor run of results continued, stretching to just one win in nine games and a mere five points gained from 27, when Red Devils winger Mike Jones slotted home a 41st minute winner at Broadfield Stadium last weekend.

That defeat was a bitter pill to swallow for the U’s, who had shrugged off a below-par first-half display to really dominate the second period in West Sussex.

In addition to Watt’s 59th minute header, team-mate Dominic Vose also rattled the woodwork with a 20-yard drive on 82 minutes.

But this latest defeat has left Joe Dunne’s men hovering just two points above the drop zone, going into tonight’s game against second-from-bottom Shrewsbury.

“There’s no more talking, we know what we have to do,” insisted Watt.

“It’s a game-by-game fight now. We know what to do on Tuesday night (against Shrewsbury). Of course we deserved a point at Crawley. I’m sure you could see that from the second half, by the way we were pressing.

“We should at least have won that half, and got a goal.

“I thought the boys at the back were strong, and the midfield was strong. We just got unlucky in the final third.

“But now we are just thinking about our next game,” added Watt.

Freddie Sears is set to miss out tonight, due to a hamstring injury picked up at Crawley.
