PETERBOROUGH’S Patrick Hougaard is hopeful of being released from hospital later today following his horror crash at Belle Vue Monday night.

Hougaard sustained “moderate concussion” in the Heat 4 accident when he clipped team-mate Kenni Larsen and was flung into the Kirkmanshulme Lane fence.

Remarkably he sustained no broken bones, although the concussion means he will definitely miss the Readypower Panthers’ home match against Eastbourne on Friday. A decision will be taken nearer the time regarding the trip to Wolverhampton next Monday.

Co-promoter Trevor Swales said: “It’s a minimum of seven days out with concussion, and we’ll see how Patrick is feeling later in the week regarding whether it will be any longer than that.

“It was a terrible crash so I’m sure he’s feeling very lucky to be largely unscathed, and we’re feeling lucky for him and for the club as a whole.”
