COLCHESTER United boss Joe Dunne will step up his search for a new defender, after his side conceded a couple more soft goals from set pieces during last night’s 2-0 home defeat to Notts County.
Dunne said: “It was not great! I’m very disappointed, although I thought initially we were on top. We attacked them and got the ball into the box, into good positions.
“But again our old habit, that I now need to probably look at changing – defending set pieces and giving away free kicks in stupid areas – has cost us.
“Someone should have been making him (Bishop) for the first goal. I won’t name who it was, but it is his responsibility and that has happened before.
“I will need to change one or two things, I think, because they were two very disappointing goals from our point of view.”
“That type of goal seems to be happening a lot, so I think I maybe have to look at bringing in some competition.
“I think one or two people might be feeling a bit too comfortable, so I will look at that this week to freshen it up.
“I’m talking about senior level. I need competition, especially for the defence.
“In fact, I missed out on a player by only five minutes today. He went somewhere else instead,” added Dunne.
