IPSWICH gained revenge for a four-point defeat in the West Country on Friday with a crushing victory over Plymouth last night.

Morten Risager once again led the way with a splendid paid 18 as the hosts gained the maximum three Premier League points on offer.

On an emotional Foxhall night, as the late John Berry was remembered, the Witches battled to victory after the visitors reduced the deficit greatly with a tactical ride.

Cameron Heeps was also taken to hospital for an X-ray on his wrist following a fall on a night of several tumbles on the Foxhall track.

Dakota North picked up three points for the Witches in the first heat and then, after a 19-point haul in the defeat at Plymouth, Risager continued where he left off, leading from start to finish. Heeps did his job too, grabbing second on the final bend.

Another maximum was forthcoming in heat three as Mat Tresarrieu took the flag and Leigh Lanham took advantage of a wobble by Cory Gathercole to take two points.

Heat four was shared as Ryan Fisher earned the visitors their first win of the night and Ben Barker soon followed that up in heat five, Lanham taking two points and Tresarrieu one.

Fisher earned Plymouth’s third win of the evening but North and Poole finished second and third

The Witches maintained their eight-point lead after heat seven before, with a lap to go and cruising in third, North lost control on the final bend and cleared the fence, landing on his shoulder.

The gutsy Australian however was soon on his feet however.

Lanham was disqualified at the start of that heat for breaching the two-minute limit and was replaced by Risager who finished third behind Tresarrieu.

A 4-2 for the hosts in heat nine ensured the visitors could use their tactical rider in the next race and after Heeps came off his bike on the second lap, Barker crashing into the back of him, he was disqualified and went to hospital.

With points counting double in the tactical ride, Barker earned a valuable six points.

The Witches picked up a maximum in heat 12 before heat 13 was re-run after Ryan Fisher fell.

His second chance was no fruitful as he again went down and Ipswich went 45-36 up.

The Witches ensured maximum points in heat 14 before Barker took the last race of the night for the visitors to leave the score 53-40.
