FOLLOWING the success of last years Ipswich Cycle Racing Series held at Trinity Park the 2012 series has received a huge boost with the sponsorship of the whole series by Adnams of Southwold.

Adnams have been involved in various sponsorship of cycling including the Tour Of Britain stages held in Suffolk both last year and in September this year. This support will help this series grow towards its aim of being the top series in the region and open to all levels, including those who have never raced before.

Entries for 2012 are now open on line on the British Cycling website. The series starts on Wednesday 13th June and runs for 6 weeks, catering for all those wanting to compete in road racing. The first year proved such a success with high demand from competitors and this year is expected to be even bigger.

Races are held around a short circuit using the roads in Trinity Park in a traffic free environment. The evening’s activities start at 6 p.m. with free Go Ride coaching for novice and youth riders kindly supported by Suffolk Coastal District Council.

At 7 p.m. the Go Race event commences for 30 minutes for those wishing to try out road cycling for the first time. This is followed by the feature race for Elite, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th category riders.

Last year’s series was won by the double National Junior Cyclo Cross rider, Hugo Robinson, and saw up to 100 riders competing across the competitions each week.

It is expected that numbers will increase this year. You can enter on the evening or enter online but please turn up in plenty of time prior to your race start.
