COLCHESTER United boss John Ward admitted that his team lacked the killer instinct in a 1-1 at Exeter City this afternoon.
Karl Duguid’s sixth minute goal was cancelled out by an 82nd minute equaliser, with Jamie Cureton’s glancing header flying in off U’s defender Magnus Okuonghae.
Ward said: “Jamie Cureton came across and got a nick on it (the cross) that was actually going wide.
“But he’s put it into Magnus’ path and as he is dealing with it the ball has gone in.
“It was a good delivery and an awkward one to deal with.
“But we are disappointed because that should just have been a blot on a two or three-goal win. We had enough opportunities to have put the game to be.
“We had good chances, but we have just lost that killer instinct that we had in the early part of the season, when we put four goals past five different clubs,” added Ward.
