TOM BULLARD has lifted two trophies in his six years as Bury Town skipper – now he hopes to lift two more in the next couple of months.

Bullard turned in a man-of-the-match display as Bury beat Suffolk rivals Lowestoft Town 2-0 to reach the final of the Ryman League Cup last week.

And next Tuesday he will be aiming to lead the Blues to the final of the LB Group Suffolk Premier Cup when they face Leiston in the semi-final at Needham Market.

The Ipswich born-and-bred centre back, who had a trial with Derby County when ex-Ipswich Town manager George Burley was boss at Pride Park, led Bury to victory in last season’s final, beating Needham Market 2-0 at Portman Road.

The previous season he had skippered the west Suffolk side to the Zamaretto League Midlands Division One title, which saw Bury win promotion to the Premier Division of the Ryman League.

With the Ryman League Cup final at Staines Town FC on March 28 to look forward to and the possibility of a return to Portman Road in the offing, Bullard could be lifting more silverware in the weeks to come.

He said: “It is a great achievement for the club to reach the Ryman League Cup final. We set out at the start of the season to try to get to the final.

“Now we have got another semi-final coming up in the Suffolk Premier Cup, and we have also got the play-offs to aim for in the league.”

Bury, who lost to Lowestoft in last season’s Ryman League Premier Division play-offs at the semi-final stage, currently sit in fourth place.

“At the start of the season we set ourselves a target of reaching the play-offs at least. We started shakily, but have since gone on a good run and hopefully we can sneak into the play-off this season.”

Bullard, who skippered Suffolk to FA County Youth Cup success in 2005 against Hampshire at Portman Road, added: “It would be a great feeling to lift another couple of trophies this season.”
