THE Great Britain archery team has been named for next month’s London 2012 test event at Lord’s.

Simon Terry, Larry Godfrey and Alan Wills, who all competed in Beijing three years ago, will represent the men, while five-time Olympian Alison Williamson joins Naomi Folkard and Amy Oliver in the women’s team.

The test event, like next summer’s Olympic contest, will be held at Lord’s cricket ground.

The competition begins on October 3 and hopes are high for a strong performance against other international competitors.

Terry won two Olympic bronze medals at the 1992 Barcelona Games, while the women’s trio picked up silver at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi last year.

Archery GB performance director Sara Symington said: “The six archers who will be taking part at Lord’s have been selected on the basis of how they have performed this year, but there is still a lot of hard work ahead before anyone can secure their Olympic place.

“The archers who hope to represent Great Britain at next year’s Olympic Games will have to take part in a tough selection process, but the important thing to point out is that everyone aspiring to claim a place at Lord’s will have a chance if they achieve the required scores to be invited to the selection shoots.”
